Daisy Hill or Craigavon Area Emergency Departments (A&E)

Patients who feel they need to attend Daisy Hill or Craigavon Area Emergency Departments (A&E), or South Tyrone Minor Injuries Unit are being asked to "PHONE FIRST".  This service is open Monday - Friday, 9am - 6pm.  The telephone number is 0300 123 3111.  You can also use the Interpreter Now AppFurther information about this service.

Appointment Lines

Our appointment telephone lines open daily from 8am - 12pm for Emergency / on the day GP / ANP consultations. We advise patients to telephone as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Patients seeking a ROUTINE, NON-URGENT appointment can call the practice from 10am - 12pm on weekdays (with the exception of wednesdays as phone lines are diverted to emergency line from 12pm). You will be offered an appointment up to 4 weeks in advance (availibility permitting).

With a patient list of almost 10,000 patients, it is vital that we manage our appointments in this way to ensure the Clinicians in the practice have capacity to deal with emergency / urgent consultations on the day, if you have been offered a routine appointment by our team, it is because it is deemed appropriate to your concern.

We are a teaching practice

We are a teaching practice and there will be medical students present during calls and consultatons.  If you do not consent to a student being present please inform a member of staff.

Care Navigators

Our Care Navigators (Medical Receptionists) are highly trained and have received instruction from the GP Partners to collect information from all patients regarding their symptoms and needs.  This information will then be used to direct you to the appropriate clinician or service provider.

All incoming calls are appropriately triaged by our reception team in order to assess the needs of the patient, this includes establishing if the appointment is URGENT or ROUTINE

Staff will ask for the following information during the triage process:-

  • Detail of the medical concern and why you wish to speak to a clinician
  • Symptoms of the concern and when the symptoms commenced
  • If this is a new concern or a re-occuring concern that you have previously discussed with one of our clinicians
  • Staff will ask if you are taking any over the counter medication and will sign post you to the nearest participating Pharamacy First provider if appropriate
